The Beat Game is annual rap competition presented by Makin’ It Magazine that gives independent artists an opportunity to be heard by Major label A&Rs, Radio Personnel and various industry professionals.

Artists register for just $20 and receive 15 free contest beats which can then be used 100% royalty free on their own albums, mixtapes and demos.

After registering, artists submit songs completed to any of the 15 contest beats or songs completed to their own original beats.

As songs are submitted our panel of industry professionals will be logging into the site to listen and rate each record. After the contest deadline, 16 finalists will be selected (the highest rated song submitted to each of the 15 contest beats plus the highest rated song submitted to an original beat.)

These 16 finalists will be featured in Makin’ It Magazine and receive a song placement on a nationally released mixtape. We will be giving away 100,000 free copies of this promotional release in 35 markets to let the streets determine the grand prize winner. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite artist from their mobile phone or online.

The artist with the most votes at the end of the voting period will be crowned our grand prize winner and receive $10,000 Cash along with a Cover Story in Makin’ It Magazine.

The Beat Game was put together to provide independent artists from around the world the opportunity to break into the music industry. We believe that there are talented artists everywhere. Unfortunately, many of them will never see the light of day because they don’t live in a city like Atlanta or New York. Our goal was to bring the industry to the people by providing them with professionally produced beats and an opportunity for real exposure.

2.Registration

Anyone entering The Beat Game competition under the age of 18 must do so with there parents consent and all prizes will be awarded legal guarding.

The Beat Game is an online competition and open to artists from around the world.

The Beat Game is annual competition that lasts for several months. Artists can register and submit songs at any time during this period before the submission deadline.

Whether you are a groups or a solo artist registration is only $20.

Yes, artists may enter as both solo artists and groups.

Participants can register online to instantly download their contest package or register by mail to have it shipped to them. To register by mail just send a money order in the amount of $25.95 ($20 Registration fee + $5.95 Shipping & Handling) to:

Contest packages usually arrive in 5-10 business days. Mail order registration is available to US residents only.

To participate in the 2008 Beat Game competition just pay your $20 registration fee to receive your official contest package including the 15 free beats, licensing rights and registration code.

3.The beats

Yes. Artists wishing to achieve the best quality mixdown can receive a session file with the beats individual audio parts tracked out for an additional $50.

No. Exclusive rights will not be granted for any of the 15 Contest Beats. If you are interested in getting exclusive custom produced beats please visit www.TheBeatSquad.com

Artist are free to alter or add to all contest beats in any way that does not significantly change the nature of the composition. Acceptable changes include things such as shortening the beat or adding room for additional verses.

For an additional $25 artists can have any of the 15 contest beats re-sequenced by a member of The Beat Squad. If you would also like the beat customized including the removal or addition of instruments, melodies and sound effects that fee will be $50.

Contest registration includes the rights to use all 15 of the contest beats 100% royalty free on your own albums, mixtapes or demos. This means you can use them on your projects and whether you sell 1 copy or 1 million you owe the producers absolutely nothing.

Participants can record to as many beats as they choose whether it be one or all 15.

To keep things fair all participants receive the same 15 beats. The challenge is for contestants to come up with the hottest songs to the beats they choose to use.

For participants that register online, beats will be available as an instant download. Those that register by mail will have their beats shipped to them on CD and should receive them within 5 to 10 business days.

4.Submission

Profanity is allowed in song submissions. The song you submit does not have to be radio edited but the judges will be rating songs based on commercial viability. It is recommended that you do have a radio edit available for any song that you submit in the event that one of the Radio DJs or music directors judging the competition are interested in receiving a copy.

Artists are free to feature whomever they wish on the songs they submit.

Though the competition is open to artists internationally it is highly recommended that all songs be submitted in English for judging purposes.

Yes, Artists can submit as many songs as they choose. Your first entry is free with all additional songs being subject to a $20 submission fee.

All songs must be received by April 30, 2009.

Yes. By popular demand, artists can now submit songs using their own original beats. This year we will be choosing 16 finalists, one for each of the 15 Contest beats and an additional finalists chosen from the songs submitted using original beats.

All songs must be submitted online through the website using a valid registration code.

5.Judging

We take the 15 first place winners and include them on a huge promotional release. We then let the fans choose the grand prize winner by voting for their favorite song online or from their mobile phone.

Yes. A contestant can be chosen as a first place finalist for multiple entries submitted using different contest beats.

All entries are separated according to the beat used and judged. The highest rated song submitted to each of the contest beats is selected as a finalist for a total of 15 First place winners.

Judges rate all submissions based on lyrics, hook, recording quality, song concept & marketability.

Artists are free to feature whomever they wish on the songs they submit.

6.Prizes

First place winners will be notified 30 days after the final submission deadline. The grand prize winner will be announced 15 days after the end of contest voting period with all prizes being awarded within 60 days.

In addition to being included on a nationally released project, the grand prize winner will receive $10,000 Cash, tons of publicity and appear on the cover of Makin’ It Magazine.

All fifteen first place winners will have their song included on a nationally released project and be eligible for the $10,000 grand prize.
